"Working with Audra on Miss Julie was my first experience with an intimacy choreographer for a stage production, and it made such a difference to have her guidance. From the small, subtle beats to the more dramatic and confrontational interactions, she was there to ensure that me and my fellow actor felt well within our comfort zone during rehearsals of intimate moments. Audra's supportive presence allowed everyone to feel confident, prepared, and most importantly, professional in their work. I couldn't be more thankful to Audra not only for guiding us through this production, but for reminding us of our right to be comfortable and giving us the tools to handle intimate scenes in the future." - Shonagh Smith, Actor
INTIMACY CHOREOGRAPHY
Having experienced and witnessed sexual harassment and assault during my work onstage and off, and in the wake of the #metoo movement, I began training with Intimacy Directors International (www.teamIDI.org) in 2017 to create a safe working environment for scenes of intimacy on stage. I am certified in Mental Health First Aid, a certified massage therapist (780 training hrs, 2 years clinical practice), and have several years of actor movement training.

Working with actors Shonagh Smith and Brennan Patrick during rehearsals for The Filigree Theatre's production of Miss Julie.

"Audra was an invaluable contributor to our production. She quickly established ground rules so we could engage in the more intense moments comfortably, both when she was present and not. Her work gave us a space to try different choices without breaching boundaries, which allowed me and my scene partner to find storytelling avenues that may have been left unexplored." - Brennan Patrick, Actor
